Waste Sorts
Minnesota Waste Wise now offers waste sorts to determine the materials in your organization's waste stream. A waste sort involves the physical collection, sorting, and weighing of a sample of your organization's waste. It will identify and quantify material that can be removed from the waste stream by waste reduction, reuse, or recycling. A waste sort can focus on the entire organization or individual departments depending on your organization's needs. Minnesota Waste Wise staff will conduct the onsite waste sort and prepare a written proposal that details your company's waste and provides recommendations on how to reduce waste, conserve natural resources, find recycling outlets for materials and save your company money in the process.
Existing Building LEED requirements:
LEED requires a waste stream analysis, which entails knowing the percentage of each material found in your waste stream. LEED requires an analysis of your waste stream over a three month period, which includes a waste sort, waste hauler bills, and recycler bills.
Waste sorts are a sliding fee-based service. For more information on waste sorts, contact Minnesota Waste Wise at (651) 292-4675.
